Soccer Tots

Getting ready to leave for our First Sporting Event Lesson. Sean is READY to go... It's important to stretch
Nate"-Dog" signed up for the fun too!

Sean understands the importance of the Goal...
So much in fact that he felt it must be guarded. This was about 3/4 the way through the class... Notice that there are no other kids around him, well that's because they were all participating in the class down where we were. Sean figured he'd hang out there for the rest of the day. Fortunately we were able to get him to engage in some other activities.
We'll let you know how next Saturday goes....

Up and Away, on a cloudy Monday

So... it's Monday... we're home from "school" relaxing.

catching up on the newest Dora the Explorer

very serious episode...

... then low and behold.... I look out our patio window, and see.

Hot Air Baloons.. Everywhere. 4 of them actually, 2 were flying about 50 feet off the ground. One landed across the street from our house. How exciting... All the kids in the neighborhood rushed out of their homes.

Imagine my surprise, when I walked by the patio window to see this...

Bring on Spring

The greatest thing about springtime is that everything around you feels new and refreshed. That goes for me personally as well. I know that spring is not officially here... but as soon as March roles around...I'm fully on board and ready to call it SPRING. We've had a lot of rain, so right now, all that I've got sprouting up is a bunch of weeds, but I can see the leaf blooms on my trees starting to open up to new leaves. I love it. I should really plant some tulips. Even if it's just in a pot. I love tulips and nothing says "springtime" more than tulips.

I took a few minutes this morning to look through some old pictures of Sean. (I say "old" but we're only talking 12mo., 18 mo., or 2yrs ago) It's amazing to see the change in him since even this time last year. He's such a different child. There's nearly no resemblance of that baby... he looks like such a little boy. I feel like he's so much older than he is. How did we get here so fast?

It really doesn't matter how we got here, or how fast time seems to be flying by, because it will always feel this way. My mother used to say it to me all the time..."seems like you were a little girl just yesterday.." Now I know how she felt.

A friend of mine said to me when Sean was first born, "every couple months you'll swear that THIS is your favorite age... until a month or so passes and then you say... no THIS is my favorite age...." It's so true. I love it all. I'm loving every step of the way. I loved playing in the sprinklers last summer, I love carving pumpkins in the fall, and I love looking forward to lots of play days in the spring at the park.

Jammie time.

First Flight and Airport Experience...

This weekend was tough. Sean and I had to head out to Oregon for my Grandpa Glass' funeral. I'm sorry that I missed the opportunity to introduce Sean and Grandpa before he passed away. We were planning a trip out in May to do so... I suppose they'll meet in the next life.

So like I said, it was a tough weekend, but mostly because of the chaos of trying to fly! I don't imagine I'll be doing that again for a lonnnng while. At least 2-3 more years, (everyone keeps saying "it's much easier when they're just a little bit older"). You just don't realize all that you have to go through. As if traveling through the airport wasn't a pain in the butt enough, with just yourself, one carry-on and a purse. Take into account all the stuff you have to take, picture this...Me carrying Sean (because all he want's to do is run around), "Diaper-activity-change of clothes" bag, DVD player ect., a small back pack for Sean with cars and crayons ect., a massive car seat in tow (because for some reason I wasn't allowed to check that at the baggage check)... don't forget I'm carrying this stuff through the security check... shoes off, belt off, purse on the scanner belt, DVD player out of bag number 3 and in a separate bin, Sean's shoes off, Milk and Water checked for explosives... shoes back on, belt back on, lids to all milk and water bottles back on, Sean's shoes back on, pick Sean up, grab ALL THE BAGS, car seat, and head out to the plane. THEN the wonderful joys of cabin pressure, crying (or rather, SCREAMING) baby, passenger comments and overall just weary Mommy... oh my goodness. I nearly HAD to stay in Oregon, for fear of traveling home. All I can say is I THANK the LORD for the very sweet man sitting next to Sean and I for being such a good sport... and the wonderful Mom across the ailse with her 4 yr old daughter who kept offering Sean food, a large Dinasaur and just about anything else to help keep him semi-calm. Thank you wonderful citizens!

The ride home... not nearly as bad, it was much later at night, Sean was very tired and a movie kept him entertained for the ride home until he fell asleep about 3/4 of the way home. Thank goodness!

Picasso

My little artist LOVES to color, and do just about ANY art project that you give him. This makes me happy. I already know he's smart, but I really like that he engages his creative side as well. He brings home an art project of some sort each day, which I proudly use to decorate our fridge, or my office walls.

Kissing Bandit

So tonight, it was time for bed... I walked Sean upstairs for the standard routine. We climbed up into the chair for a cup of milk and a little signing time. But my young lad, was not so interested in going to sleep. So he turned around facing me on my lap and wanted to point to all the features on my face, attempting to call each by their name, hoping to engage me in the game... which of course I did. But then it was time for sleep. So I said, "shhhhh, it's time for night-night.." Sean whispers to me, "... mommy...." *pause* ".... mommy...." *pause* "MOMMY!!!" (I'm pretending to be asleep) he kisses me, hoping to wake me up. I don't respond. He kisses me again... I let me head fall to the side. He's now PERSISTENT on kissing me. I said, "ok, Sean, that's enough, Thank You, I love you but it's time for night-night". This launches him into full KISSING ATTACK. Well, now I can't stop laughing.. where did this come from? Where did he learn this? (he's so clever... what he's really doing is keeping me engaged with him... and that's all he really wants.) This game went on for a good 10 minutes. I just couldn't believe it.. this (almost) 2 yr old Casanova, was trying to work me. (and it worked!) God, I love this boy.

2010, New Year ... Let's make it good.

Well, today starts the New Year of 2010. As most, I'm glad to see 2009 gone, and in the past. It was one heck of a challenging year. But one thing that I'll take from all the experiences, is that "we" (you and I) are much stronger for having gone through all those ups and downs. I've always believed that "everything happens for a reason", and as difficult as it is to keep that top of mind while in the midst of it all... it really does. People have said to us, "you have angles watching over you guys"... and I know that we do. We all do. We just have to believe, pray, and trust.

I'm sure that 2010 will present it's own set of difficult decisions and challenges... but we'll make it through. Right now I'm just praying for the good health of my family and loved ones and the opportunity for improved finances for all of us that are trying to recoup from this past year's fall-out.

I'm starting 2010 with a fresh mind and hopeful heart. I hope you will too.

POTTY TIME!

We spent a good portion of Christmas vacation POTTY TRAINING... It actually turned out to be alot of fun. It was very nice to have all the extra helping hands to help with the task. We set the timer for every 20 minutes and when the bell rang, everyone yelled "POTTY TIME!!" and Sean bolted to the bathroom to sit on the potty for a little pee-pee, and the reward of an M&M afterward. He was quite proud of himself... and we were all very proud of him as well. We were not successful with the attempts for poop, but that could have been stage fright, since he had an audience for each attempt. :) In this picture, our little turkey got away without his undies or pants... Thank goodness, Aunt - t was quick with the swoop and caught him.
