First Flight and Airport Experience...
This weekend was tough. Sean and I had to head out to Oregon for my Grandpa Glass' funeral. I'm sorry that I missed the opportunity to introduce Sean and Grandpa before he passed away. We were planning a trip out in May to do so... I suppose they'll meet in the next life.
So like I said, it was a tough weekend, but mostly because of the chaos of trying to fly! I don't imagine I'll be doing that again for a lonnnng while. At least 2-3 more years, (everyone keeps saying "it's much easier when they're just a little bit older"). You just don't realize all that you have to go through. As if traveling through the airport wasn't a pain in the butt enough, with just yourself, one carry-on and a purse. Take into account all the stuff you have to take, picture this...Me carrying Sean (because all he want's to do is run around), "Diaper-activity-change of clothes" bag, DVD player ect., a small back pack for Sean with cars and crayons ect., a massive car seat in tow (because for some reason I wasn't allowed to check that at the baggage check)... don't forget I'm carrying this stuff through the security check... shoes off, belt off, purse on the scanner belt, DVD player out of bag number 3 and in a separate bin, Sean's shoes off, Milk and Water checked for explosives... shoes back on, belt back on, lids to all milk and water bottles back on, Sean's shoes back on, pick Sean up, grab ALL THE BAGS, car seat, and head out to the plane. THEN the wonderful joys of cabin pressure, crying (or rather, SCREAMING) baby, passenger comments and overall just weary Mommy... oh my goodness. I nearly HAD to stay in Oregon, for fear of traveling home. All I can say is I THANK the LORD for the very sweet man sitting next to Sean and I for being such a good sport... and the wonderful Mom across the ailse with her 4 yr old daughter who kept offering Sean food, a large Dinasaur and just about anything else to help keep him semi-calm. Thank you wonderful citizens!
The ride home... not nearly as bad, it was much later at night, Sean was very tired and a movie kept him entertained for the ride home until he fell asleep about 3/4 of the way home. Thank goodness!
